On 15 March 2023, the second Multiplier Event of the SHAKIN project called “Work on the wild side! (Re)politicising our professions, supporting subaltern cultural projects” took place at the Goethe-Institut in Lyon. In line with the issue, a day of discussions and workshops exploring the political dimensions of working in arts and culture and deliberating on appropriate support systems for more inclusive and equitable working environments was designed.
During this day, the audience gained insights into the work-in-progress epistemology of the SHAKIN’ project as well as this year's and last year’s student projects. As the event was held in parallel with the Winter School in Lyon, it provided a first platform for the student groups to disseminate the results of their collective work.
Furthermore, the audience was invited to participate in different formats such as a Worldcafé (hosted by the SHAKIN’ partners), a roundtable discussion and workshops.
The round table discussion and the workshops questioned more committed mentoring, co-development and cooperation models on a local, European and international scale. For this purpose, speakers and beneficiaries were invited to share, from different perspectives, the impact as well as their experiences on behalf of FEMIX, MEWEM and Language of Birds.
Our event generated a wealth of exchanges, collective discussions and experience sharing and attracted a diverse audience: alumni of the SHAKIN’ project (last year’s students), students in the field of cultural management from Lyon, France and Europe, participants from the academic sector, practitioners and actors from the cultural and artistic fields.
