Lyon, classed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1998, is France’s second best student city, according to the 2017 and 2018 QS Best Student Cities rankings, and a great city for study. Every year, nearly 15,000 foreign students come study in Lyon.
Being the second-largest urban area of France and located in the country's east-central part about 470 km (292 mi) south of Paris, 320 km (199 mi) north of Marseille, Lyon has many transport facilities that connect it with other French and European cities in the area.

Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport is the international airport of Lyon.
The airport is directly linked to Lyon-Part-Dieu Business by the Rhône Express Shuttle that connecys the Airport to the city centre in 30 minutes.
There two other ways to reach the centre of Lyon:
From the airport Lyon Saint Exupéry, you can use the Lyon Public Transportation system (The TCL network) to reach Lyon Take Bus 47 (2,20€) to Meyzieu where you can connect to the Tramway line 3 (T3). The T3 will take you to the station La Part Dieu, a hub for TCL subway, busses, and trams in about 1 hour.

Lyon is accessible by train from all major European cities.
Paris is 2 hours from Lyon by train. A train ticket from Paris to Lyon will cost you an average of 70€. If you are between 12 and 25 years old, you can get discounts with the ‘Carte Jeune’ (discount card). Visit the SNCF website. - Coming to Lyon by bus

Lyon and its suburbs have a comprehensive public transportation network (TCL) that includes buses, metro lines, trams and public bicycle system (Velo’v). If you are between 18 and 27 years old, you can take advantage of preferential rates.
TCL tickets are valid for 1 hour and it is possible to take the metro, tram and bus with the same ticket. Check timetables and fares.
If you wish to get a monthly subscription, you must go to a TCL agency with the following documents:- student card or school certificate (for student rate);
- an identity document
- 5 € for the TCL card (if you don't yet have one)
- a passport photo if you do not yet have a Técély card (recent, full face, centered on the face, bare head and on a plain and light-colored background)
