If you wish to come to the Université Lumière Lyon 2 on your own initiative, outside of exchange programs you will do so directly with the Université Lumière Lyon 2. You may therefore enrol with one of the degree-seeking programs offered by our university and obtain a French diploma at the end of your studies.

The Université Lumière Lyon 2 is home to nearly 30,000 students, 18% of them are international students. International students add diversity and culture richness to our university,  and the resulting exchanges among international and French students are evidence of a genuine openness at the Université Lumière Lyon 2.

Being the second-largest urban area of France and located in the country's east-central part about 470 km (292 mi) south of Paris, Lyon has many transport facilities that connect it with other French and European cities in the area.

Obtaining a VISA / Residency permit

If you are a citizen of a member state of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland you do not need a visa to come and study in France.

If you are a citizen of another country you must obtain a long-stay visa for studies before entering France. This visa is mandatory. It is not possible to obtain a visa once you have entered France.

As an international student, you can benefit from basic French health care during your studies in France. You can also purchase in to complementary health insurance policy.

Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program

The University Lumière Lyon 2 participates in the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme, established by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education establishments to attract top foreign students to enroll in their master’s and PhD courses.
Its purpose is to encourage applications from emerging countries students at master’s level in priority areas of study, and from emerging and industrialized countries at PhD level.
