For our last SHAKIN’ event, our partners from the University of Arts have organized a three-day international conference entitled “In from the margins – Sharing footnotes of subaltern knowledge and practices”. During these three days (26 to 28 June), we were offered a very diversified program.

We had the chance to gain insights in reflections and research results related to subaltern knowledge through paper presentations and panel discussions.

In the form of artists’ talks, workshops and case study presentations, we also explored artistic and practical individual or collaborative works (photography, video, performances, lecture/performances, manifestos, installations, curated multimedia, etc.)  as well as pedagogical, training and learning formats that explore different dimensions of teaching and learning process dealing with subaltern knowledge.

Foremost, the aim of the conference was to share the results of the SHAKIN’ project with the widest international audience of academics, teachers, practitioners, artists, educators, and cultural operators. Also, we were very happy to participate in the presentation of three student groups who developed their projects within SHAKIN’: “Perreo Peripheria: Feminist exploration of Reggaeton”, “What do we keep?” and the audio walk “How could a non-sexist city sound like?
