After a year of preparation, thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the University of Lyon through the “Bienvenue en France” strategy, the International Relations Department is launching a new welcome service: the International student office. Located on the Porte des Alpes campus, at the Student Centre (fr. Maison de l'étudiant or MDE), it was inaugurated on Tuesday February 11th , 2020.
What is the International Student Office?
The International Student Office offers the following services:
- International Mentoring Centre: French university language and methodology support for all international students;
- Cultural activities and social integration:
a. French as a Foreign Language courses, in partnership with the International Centre for French Studies (CIEF)
b. Language workshops, as part of the Tandem Program, in partnership with the Language Centre (fr.Centre de Langues)
c. Accommodation services
d. Cultural activities, city tours and trips to discover the Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region
e. A student mentoring program called “Opération Binôme”
- Reception of non-exchange students
The aim is to assist them in completing their residence permit file, finding accommodation and in succeeding their university studies.
It is also a place for information on application procedures and registration, the right to work, health-related matters (social security, universal health insurance, primary care physician, etc.).
Advantages
- The International student office team will be resolutely international and multilingual, able to answer questions in French, Portuguese, English, German and Russian.
- Extended opening hours: Reception will be open Monday through Thursday between 9am and 6pm and Friday from 9am until 5pm.
