Each academic year comprises two semesters numbered as follows:

However, the rules for awarding ECTS credits to exchange students are different from those applied to regular students enrolled on a degree course. Visit the ECTS grades and credits page (LIEN).

A day's lessons are divided into time slots as follows:

  • Lesson 1: 8am - 9am

  • Lesson 2: 9am - 10am

  • Lesson 3: 10am - 11am

  • Lesson 4: 11am - 12pm

  • Lesson 5: 12pm - 1pm

  • Lesson 6: 1pm- 2pm

  • Lesson 7: 2pm - 3pm

  • Lesson 8: 3pm - 4pm

  • Lesson 9: 4pm - 5pm

  • Lesson 10: 5pm - 6pm

  • Lesson 11: 6pm - 7pm

  • Lesson 12: 7pm - 8pm

There are two types of lesson :

  • CM - Lectures in lecture halls;

  • TD - Tutorials in the classroom 

Depending on the components and courses, they can sometimes be indissociable. In this instance, it is compulsory to follow the TD and CM.

Université Lumière Lyon 2 is a French-speaking university, so the teaching language is French for most courses.

As a guide, B2 is the reference level for being able to follow a course at university.

The University does not require exchange students to have a language certificate (in French or English).
