As an exchange student, you will be able to choose courses at all levels (from 1st year Bachelor to 2nd year Master) and in any department or faculty. You will not be obliged to follow all the courses in the "XX" programme, nor all the courses in the same "Teaching Unit" (TU).

However, please note that you will not be able to take courses in:

  • Third year of Professional Bachelor (LP)

  • University diplomas (DU) and university technology diplomas (DUT)

  • The "professional options" of bachelor's degrees

  • As well as certain tutorials or workshops (limited number of places)

Consult the range of courses offered by the University

From this page web, you can access the websites of the various departments and faculties (some offer online teaching descriptions, others do not). To consult the timetables, choose the desired faculty, department, course and year of study.

Courses specially designed for international exchange students

The University also offers a range of courses specifically for international students. Click here to consult the catalogue of specific courses.

Catalogue of courses taught in a foreign language

The UFR (Training and Research Units), Faculties and Institutes of the Université Lumière Lyon 2 offer around 800 courses in foreign languages as part of the LMD (Licence, Master and Doctorate) curricula.
Consult the catalogue online or click here to download it.

PLEASE NOTE: these courses are not always accessible to exchange students; please contact department concerned for more information. Contacts can be found in the catalogue.

You can also choose courses from the MINERVE programme (taught in German, Spanish and Italian) and take part in one or more sporting activities if you wish.

Before arriving in France - how to draw up your pre-study agreement (learning agreement)

Most of you will have to draw up a learning agreement ("before the mobility"). So you need to pre-select courses on the basis of information you find on the internet. However, it is very likely that you will need to amend your study contract once you arrive in Lyon, as timetables change from one year to the next and it is also possible that some of the courses you have chosen may overlap (scheduling conflict). If this is the case, don't panic! You will be able to amend your study contract.
Please note: the courses on offer from September to January are different from those on offer from January to June.

IMPORTANT: your learning agreement (“before the mobility section”) must be validated and approved by your home institution: by your coordinator (if they have asked you to draw one up).

As the number of courses taught in English is limited, it is important that your level of French enables you to follow the courses without difficulty.

Each academic year is made up as follows
  • Bachelor 1: September-January / January-June

  • Bachelor 2: September-January/ January-June

  • Bachelor 3: September-January / January-June

  • Master 1: September-January  / January-June
