Here you will find details on all the steps you need to take part in an exchange programme at the Université Lumière Lyon 2.

You must be enrolled at a foreign university that has signed an agreement with the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and be selected to do a placement with us. Follow the steps to apply for the University's exchange programme. Before applying, check that the dates of the semester at Lyon 2 are compatible with your home university's calendar.

You can come to the Université Lumière Lyon 2 for:

  • The first semester (September to January)

  • The second semester (January to June)

  • The full academic year (September to June)

  • One calendar year (from January to January of the following year) only if your home university authorises you to do so (universities in the southern hemisphere, in particular: Australian, Brazilian, Argentinean, Mexican, etc.).

1 - Complet the online application form

To complete it, please follow the instructions sent to you by e-mail by the International Relations Department. As a reminder, you need to complete the application form online and attach any necessary documents (ID, etc.).

IMPORTANT: You must have finalised your application by 5 May at the latest if your exchange starts in September and by 15 October if your exchange starts in January.

2 - Choose one of the French courses offered by the Centre International d’Études Françaises (CIEF)

If you would like to take part in the PRUNe course (intensive, fee-paying university preparatory course), which runs from the end of August to mid-September, you should register your interest using the online application form.
The CIEF will then contact you to tell you what procedure to follow. The course is open to students with a B1 to C2 level in French.

If you would like to take part in the Français pour Étudiantes et Étudiant en Mobilité (French for International Mobility Students - FEMI) course during your exchange (free course), you must express your interest using the online application form.
The CIEF will then contact you to tell you what procedure to follow. Please note that a minimum A2 level in French is required.

3 - Wait for a reply from us

Once all the above steps have been completed, please be patient and wait for a reply from us. We will let you know whether or not you have been accepted by sending you an e-mail by June 30 if you have applied to join us in September, and by November 15 if you have applied to join us in January.

Before these dates, please do not call or e-mail us regarding your application.
