to 13 June 2025

From June 11 to 13, the Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco, Portugal, hosted the first forum of the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance. Over 200 participants came together for working sessions, discussions on the coming months of collaboration, and convivial moments to strengthen bonds between members.

The BAUHAUS4EU European University aims to create a common European campus and research and education community for its 124,000 students and 10,000 staff. The project supporting this Alliance will run for 4 years. It will focus on several areas: transforming campuses to make them greener and more inclusive, student entrepreneurship, innovation in learning methods, and the development of regional innovation hubs...

A forum of collaboration and openness

The main aim of the forum was to strengthen links between all contributors to the project.

The program fostered cooperation within the various Work Packages, while offering the opportunity to meet other Alliance members with whom we don't usually interact. The work meetings highlighted the richness of the intercultural framework, providing a better understanding of the diversity of approaches, and raising awareness of the challenges of remote collaboration.

Workshops were also organized to build bridges with regional players, committed partners of the Alliance. Finally, the participation of colleagues from other European universities enriched the exchanges, and this advice and good practice will benefit the collective dynamic of the project.

Sharing moments

In addition to presentations and working meetings, participants had the opportunity to discover Portuguese culture and the magnificent town of Castelo Branco, capital of the Beira Baixa sub-region.
From discovering the region's gastronomy, to a concert by students from the School of Applied Arts at the Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco, and a cultural tour of the town and Monsanto, convivial moments flourished, resulting in an even closer collaboration!

Did you know? Castelo Branco has been chosen by UNESCO for the World Network of Creative Cities! This distinction is based on silk embroidery, which contributes greatly to the enhancement of this municipality's cultural identity. It has become an enduring symbol of the city, decorating both sidewalks and buildings. Last but not least, initiatives have been put in place to preserve and promote Castelo Branco's craftsmanship and traditions.
