As a social and human science university, our institution plays a very special role in society: that of developing critical thinking, understanding and intelligence of our societies, accompanying social, economic and cultural actors for social phenomena’s apprehension.
6 major development priorities:The roadmap adopted by the Board of Directors in January 2022 is a strategic plan setting out our main lines of development (strategic orientations) and objectives. It also includes a non-exhaustive plan of actions and resources to be undertaken by 2023, aimed at our various target audiences: the general public and specific audiences (youth and adults) socio-professional world, the university community and users.
- Structuring the University's political and strategic commitment to science and society
-
This focus aims to reinforce the university’s political commitment and strategy regarding science and society by developing a cross-disciplinary view. It highlights the research’s specificity made at Université Lumière Lyon 2, specifically through specialty clusters and two partnership chairs.
- Sharing knowledge with everyone
-
This focus encourages the sharing of scientific knowledge at all ages by mediation actions, patrimonial valorization and non-formal education. L’Université Tous Âges (UTA) (All-ages university), le Musée des Moulages (The Moulding Museum) and the actions next to school publics are some examples of it, always driven by inclusion, emancipation and critical thinking values.
- Supporting and accompanying participatory and parentship research
-
The university wants to affirm/assure the role of human and social science by engaging in participatory science and the co-production of knowledge with non-academic authors and actors. These are long term projects, locally-base and contribute to social and public innovation. Université Lumière Lyon 2 aims to become a benchmark university on this field.
- Creating new links between practical, professional, technical and scientific knowledge
-
This approach aims to strengthen multidisciplinary, decompartmentalized training that is in touch with societal issues and public problems. At Université Lumière Lyon 2, a tradition of research based on professional practices nurtures the links between scientific, technical and practical knowledge, in general curricula, professionalizing degrees and lifelong learning (LLL).
- Conveying the message of science on media and public debates
-
This approach concerns scientific discourse in the public arena, particularly in the media. This aims to support, guide, train and raise awareness among professors, researchers and PhD students, alongside media professionals and those involved in knowledge mediation and scientific, technical and industrial culture.
- Strengthening a partnership-based policy aimed at diversifying resources
-
This approach aims to identify new human and financial levers by creating partnerships with associations, communities and companies. It implies including non-academic actors around common objectives allowing to develop symbolic and economic benefits for the university. The challenge is to organize this dynamic to serve the community and a variety of projects.
