There are several private university residences in Lyon that offer rooms or studios for rent to students. The rent is generally between €400 and €650 per month and it is also necessary to plan for administrative fees and a security deposit.
A list of the main private student residences is available in our Housing Guide. - Rooms in private homes
-
The owner (a person or family) lives in an apartment or house and rents out one of the rooms. It is important to agree on reciprocal rights and obligations with the owner/occupier. Some owners also offer a package with breakfast included or even with dinner.
Rent for a room in a private home is generally between €350 and €550.
If we receive rental offers from individuals, we will send you an e-mail if you are accepted as an exchange student at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 at the end of June (if you come as an exchange student in September) or at the beginning of December (if you come as an exchange student in January). - Shared and individual housing
-
These are rooms or studios proposed by owners or by real estate agencies.
The rent is between 350€ and 600€.
You can find offers on the following websites:
Never give money directly to an owner or a roommate without having seen the accommodation!
Never pay for an apartment without having completed, on the spot, with the owner or rental agency, a documented walkthrough (inspection) and move out having done an exit walkthrough. Be vigilant when drawing up this document.
When you arrive in Lyon if you have not yet found accommodation, remember to book temporary accommodation. Our Housing Guide 2019-2020 includes an indicative list of temporary housing options.
