Below you will find a few details about the conditions for the start of the academic year and the course of study. The Université Lumière Lyon 2 took the decision to maintain the procedures and to welcome students “in person” for the 2020/2021 academic year, in the fervent hope that the health conditions will allow us to do so.

UPDATE ON THE 1rst SEPTEMBER 2020

Whether you have been accepted as a part of an exchange programme or directly into a degree-seeking programme, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome you to the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and to accompany you during your time here.

Below you will find information and guidance to help you prepare for the beginning of the academic year.

Pedagogical information

Our university has made the choice to offer primarily in-person courses. While we are maintaining our in-person classes, we have nevertheless put in place a hybrid system allowing for a part of courses to be conducted on-line as well. Bear in mind the majority of classes will be in-person and you will not be able to follow your courses uniquely on-line. Our university does not offer any programmes taught 100% on-line.

We are well aware of the restrictions placed on travel and the delays the current health context may have on the process for obtaining a visa. It is for this reason that we would like to assure you that our faculty and administrative staff are here to accompany you and to help you succeed in both your studies at and your integration into Lyon 2.

Information regarding entry into France can be found on the Campus France website

ON THE 17 JULY 2020

The objective is to encourage the welcoming and integration of students, support, and pedagogical interaction with teachers, exchange and solidarity between students...

It will also facilitate access to all facilities: university libraries, computer rooms, university health service, social worker, sports facilities, etc. - all of which will promote student academic success. This will be done while respecting the health of everyone, especially the most fragile.

The information meetings and welcome week for all students will take place from September 7th to September 11th.

The starting date of courses for First year Bachelor students will take place on September 14th, 2020, and on September 28th for Second and Third year Bachelor students as well as Master’s Degree students.

Our university has also chosen to give priority to “in person” lectures and courses but teaching during the first semester will most probably be provided in a hybrid way, i.e. with part of the teaching being done in person and part of it from a distance (from home, etc). We are currently working on this organization, and on how we will accompany the students in these arrangements. The question of accompanying international students is of course one of our major priorities.

At Lumière Lyon 2, we endeavor to welcome our students in the best possible way, and accompany them throughout their stay in Lyon and their academic path. Welcome to our home
